Elementary (4-8) DSBN Skills Challenges

We are quickly approaching the 12th Annual DSBN Technological Skills Challenges - Be a Champion!

Information about each of the different challenges is now being regularly updated on the Skills Challenges page. General information is available through the links below:

REGISTER FOR THE 2010 DSBN TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS CHALLENGES - BE A CHAMPION!

Important Registration Instructions:

Some challenges have enrollment limits. Spaces in each challenge will be allotted to the first teams from different schools who complete all of the online registrations (for all 4 students).

If you have not yet selected your team members, elementary teachers can submit the online form indicating the challenge name, school, S&T Centre and teacher's name. A spot will be temporarily reserved for your school in the challenge, but registration information must be completed for each student on the team as soon as possible to keep this spot. You will be notified one week before the event if your spot has been forfeited due to lack of registration info.

Schools may try to register more than one team per challenge, and provided that there are available spaces, will be allowed to enter a second team. The goal is always to have as many schools as possible have the opportunity to participate. The first teams registered FROM DIFFERENT SCHOOLS will be awarded spaces before multiple teams from one school. Second teams will be notified if they can compete one week before the challenge in order to allow other schools sufficient time to register. Extra spots in each challenge will be awarded to the team(s) who completed and submit the registration requirements first.

Parental Consent and Release:

Once the registration form is submitted, students will be asked to print and have their parent or guardian sign the Consent and Release Form. Once collected, please submit your students' consent forms to the Skills Development Coordinator via fax at (905) 227-4731. The form can also be downloaded on the Skills Challenges page. For the Lego Robotics preliminaries only, it will be acceptable to present the release form on the challenge day to the Chair.

Download the Parent Consent Form (pdf)

NOTE: Registration is not complete until the required online registration information has been submitted for each student on your team, plus the signed Consent and Release Form for each student. Please ensure that you & your students complete these two requirements to ensure their place in the challenge(s) of their choice.
