Special Education Summer Learning Opportunities

 


RECREATIONAL ONLINE GROUPS FOR STUDENTS WITH ASD

In partnership with Bethesda this program supports social skills and peer relationships through online games and learning.

  • Three-week program, July 6-24, two 1-hour sessions per week (Mon – Thurs)
  • Groups for students 6 - 10 years old and groups for students 9 -12 years old

GRADE 8 - 9 TRANSITIONING TO SECONDARY SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH ASD

In partnership with Bethesda this program supports both virtual online learning and continues as an afterschool program to support students moving to grade 9.

  • Six-week program, August 17 – Sept 25, two 2-hour sessions per week (Tues and Thurs), choice of AM or PM group
  • Online Learning August 17 – Sept 4 and Afterschool In-Class with location TBD Sept 8 – 25

ONLINE SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAMMING AND INTRODUCTION TO CODING FOR STUDENTS WITH ASD

In partnership with LEARNStyle, this program supports peer relationship building and an introduction to age appropriate coding opportunities.

  • One-week online program, 1.5-hour daily sessions, August 24 – 28, for 10-16 years (Mon – Fri)

FINDING YOUR SUPERPOWERS

In partnership with LEARNStyle, this is a Google Learning Opportunity to support students with Assistive Technology and using their strengths to support them in learning. Available to special education students with a SEA Device.

  • One-week program offered twice, 2-hour sessions (include 15 min movement break) July 6 -17 (Mon – Fri)
  • Grade 2-4 groups and Grade 5-8 groups

TRANSITIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

This program will focus on functional academics, social skills and transition support for students that are part of the Specialized School To Community Program (SSTC). Students must be able to engage in virtual learning.

  • One-week program, 1.5-hour sessions Mon, Wed, Fri with EA support Tues and Thurs, August 17- 28
  • Students grade 9-12

ELEMENTARY RETURN TO LEARN TRANSITION

Returning to learn in the Fall will require a supportive transition plan for many students with special education needs. This program will engage kids virtually, getting kids to reengage in learning and plan for a successful start.

  • One-week program, 1.5-hour sessions Mon, Wed, Fri with EA support Tues and Thurs, August 17- 28
  • Groups for students Grade 1-3 and groups for students Grade 3-5
