International Languages Elementary (ILE) Program

Explore a new language. No experience needed.

The International Languages Elementary (ILE) program is an optional, non-credit Community Education program that gives students the opportunity to explore a language other than English and French, which are offered during the regular school day.

Research shows that learning additional languages can strengthen communication skills across all languages.

The ILE program is funded by the Ministry of Education, making the program free of charge for all eligible families. Beginners are welcome – no prior knowledge of the language is required.

Students will:

  • Be provided with engaging, age-appropriate activities that support oral communication, reading and writing
  • Learn about the culture and heritage associated with the language
