What can we help you with?
Your child’s education or school
Most questions or concerns about your child’s education can be addressed by your child’s home school.
Where to start:
- Talk to your child’s classroom teacher – the best first step for any question about learning or classroom experience
- Contact the school principal – if you’ve spoken with the teacher and would like additional support (or if you have more general questions about your child’s school) your next step is to speak with the school principal
- Reach out to the Superintendent – after speaking with your child’s teacher and principal, we encourage you to connect with the Office of the Superintendent. You can find your School Superintendent and their contact information by clicking here.
Registering your child for school

Moving within Niagara/Changing Schools
If you are moving into a new school boundary, please contact your child’s home school directly. School staff will help guide you through the transfer process.
If you would like information about submitting an Alternate School Request Form, please contact your child’s home school for assistance.

Kindergarten is offered at DSBN elementary schools across Niagara.

Intent to Homeschool
If you intend to homeschool your child, please email SuperintendentForHomeSchool@dsbn.org for information about the process and next steps.
The Superintendent responsible for home schooling requests will be able to assist you and answer any questions you may have.
Transportation for your child
The Niagara Student Transportation Service (NSTS) plans, administers and manages transportation for DSBN students.

For real‑time updates, we encourage families to download the BusPlanner Delay app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Bus Cancellations and School Closures
Decisions about bus cancellations and school closures will be announced by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the cancellation or closure on DSBN’s websites and social media.
When the forecast calls for bad weather and unsafe road conditions, the DSBN and Niagara Student Transportation Services (NSTS) may decide to cancel buses or close schools.

Issues with your child’s email or other digital applications
If you have any issues with student emails or digital applications, reach out to your child’s home school directly. They will be able to provide support or connect with appropriate staff on your behalf.
