DSBN and CUPE Local 4156 Reach Tentative Agreement

The District School Board of Niagara and the union representing office clerical, technical and instruction support workers at the Board reached a tentative local agreement on February 29, 2016.

Jim Morgan, DSBN Superintendent of Human Resources, said the Board is pleased to have a tentative deal in place and looks forward to the ratification process. Ratification is scheduled to take place no later than May 1. Details of the contract will be available once ratification has taken place.

The local contract follows the provincial agreement between the Ontario Government, the Ontario Public School Boards Association and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which was reached in the fall of 2015. Under the terms of provincial legislation, the government negotiates big ticket items such as salary, while individual school boards are responsible for reaching agreements with local bargaining units.
