DSBN was honoured to host An Evening with Jesse Wente at Laura Secord Secondary School, bringing together students, staff, families, and community members for an evening of Indigenous storytelling, learning, and reflection.

Organized by the DSBN Indigenous Student Representatives and the DSBN Indigenous Education Team, the event featured Jesse Wente, an Ojibwe writer, broadcaster, and advocate for Indigenous rights and authentic reconciliation. Drawing on his lived experiences and insights from his bestselling book Unreconciled: Family, Truth, and Indigenous Resistance, Jesse shared powerful messages about identity, truth, responsibility, and the importance of building meaningful relationships grounded in respect and understanding.

The evening encouraged active participation, with students and community members submitting questions and engaging in thoughtful dialogue that fostered learning and connection across generations.
