At DSBN, student voice matters. We believe students are key partners in shaping their learning and school communities. When students are involved, they feel more connected, empowered, and ready to lead change.
At DSBN, students are more than learners—they're leaders and changemakers. By actively listening to and learning from students, we create spaces where they feel seen, valued, and inspired to make a difference.
There are many ways students can share their perspectives and lead change across our schools:
A student alliance of secondary students from schools across the DSBN who work together to create meaningful change within their schools focused on equity, inclusion and human rights.
The DSBN’s Rise Up conference united students to inspire action, foster inclusion, and lead meaningful change in their schools and communities.
Is comprised of secondary students from across the DSBN who are dedicated to amplifying student voice.
A leadership group where students plan events, promote positive school culture and represent their peers’ voices.
Safe and supportive groups for students who share common identities or experiences to connect, celebrate, and be heard.
The Indigenous Student Reps are a collection of secondary First Nations, Inuit and Métis students from across the DSBN. Each month, students gather with the Indigenous Education Team to share their gifts and lived experiences as Indigenous youth. Together, they help guide the work of the Indigenous Education Team and the Indigenous Education Council (IEC), ensuring it is grounded in youth voice and carried out in a good way.
