Board Chair Reelected, New Vice-Chair Elected

Dale Robinson, Trustee for Thorold and Pelham, has been reelected as Chair of the Board at the annual organizational meeting held on December 6, 2016. Robinson was first elected to the Board in 2010 and has also served as Vice-Chair previously.

At the same meeting, Niagara Falls Trustee Kevin Maves was elected Vice-Chair of the Board, succeeding West Lincoln/Wainfleet Trustee Diane Chase. Maves has served as a Trustee since 2000. He has served the Board and public as chair and vie-chair on numerous occasions. 

The Board appointed two new members of the senior team in December. 

Jennifer Feren, the Director of Legal and Court Services for the Niagara Region, has been named Board Lawyer. Jennifer began with the DSBN on January 9. She will assume the role from Brenda Stokes-Verworn who will retire in the spring. 

Feren has been practicing law for nearly 20 years and has expertise in family law, civil litigation, employment law, real estate and estate litigation. She has worked closely with Family and Children Services, the Niagara Regional Police, and the Public Health Department.

Michael St. John, from the Durham District School Board has been appointed Superintendent of Education with the DSBN. Michael began with the Board on January 16. Michael most recently served as a System Administrator with Durham. He has been an educator for over 22 years.
