The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) looks forward to welcoming incoming Kindergarten students and their families to Kindergarten Open House events taking place at DSBN elementary schools from Monday, May 4 to Thursday, May 7, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Kindergarten Open Houses are designed to support families as they prepare for an important occasion – the start of their child’s school journey. Families are invited to visit their child’s home school, tour Kindergarten classrooms, meet school staff, ask questions and learn more about what to expect as their child begins Kindergarten in the fall.
Families of students who registered before April 13 will receive an email invitation from their child’s home school with event details. Families who have not yet registered are welcome to attend and can register at the Open House or in advance online. Open House dates, times and school-specific information is available at www.dsbn.org/kindergarten.
"Kindergarten Open Houses are an important part of welcoming our youngest learners and their families into the DSBN community,” said Kelly Pisek, DSBN Director of Education. “These events provide early connections and clear information, setting the foundation for a confident and successful start to Kindergarten in September. Starting school is an exciting milestone, and our educators and staff are committed to making every family feel welcome, informed, and ready for the journey ahead."
During Open House events, families will have the opportunity to:
- Explore a Kindergarten classroom
- Meet school staff and ask questions
- Confirm their child’s Kindergarten registration
- Learn more about DSBN’s Kindergarten program
- Begin building a connection with their new school community
