DSBN Recognizes Parent’s Decade of Commitment to Students

Diane ChaseEducation was always going to be a big part of Diane Chase’s life.  As a mother of three, Diane knew she would be involved with her children’s schools in supporting their learning and growth. During the course of her involvement with schools, Diane has become one of the DSBN’s most hard working and dedicated parents.  At the Board meeting on Tuesday, November 13, the DSBN honoured Diane’s decade of support and leadership with the Director’s Recognition for Extraordinary Contributions.

“We want to thank you for all your time, efforts and leadership. Your work has made a significant difference in the lives of students and their families,” Director Hoshizaki told Diane as he presented her with the award.

Over the years, Diane has served on a number of school councils, often in the role of chair. At one point, Diane sat on three different school councils, and chaired each one!

Diane is the current chair of the DSBN’s Parent Involvement Committee (PIC). The PIC supports parents across the system in participating effectively in their children’s educational journey. The Committee’s signature event is its annual conference, which was held at Eden High School on November 7.  The conference has grown from modest beginnings to a highly anticipated event that helps provide parents with tools to support their children’s learning. Over six hundred parents took part in this year’s event.
