The flags of all DSBN schools and the Education Centre will be flown at half-mast until end of day Tuesday, June 8 to honour the 215 Indigenous children who were found in a mass grave at the site of Kamloops Residential School

The District School Board of Niagara extends its sympathies to residential school survivors, the families of the children whose lives were taken, Indigenous nations, and everyone impacted by this terrible discovery.

Understanding that Indigenous communities are grieving, we are working with the DSBN Indigenous Education Team, and Indigenous Community Partners to ensure we are cautious when engaging in discussions with our students so that we do not cause further harm.

Resources and support will be shared with educators to enable them to move forward appropriately with respect to this tragedy within their classrooms.
