Elementary French Immersion:

We’re excited that you’re interested in our French Immersion program! At the DSBN, students start French Immersion in Grade 1. Students in French Immersion take the same subjects as those in the English Grade 1 program. Children are introduced to the French language through repetition, gestures and songs. In the 21st century, our goal for language learning is authentic communication. Students learn to listen, speak, read and write in French for real-life purposes.

The following schools offer French Immersion Programs:

  • Dalewood Public School,St. Catharines
  • Gordon Public School, Welland
  • McKay Public School, Port Colborne

These credits include: français (4 credits: Grades 9-12), sciences (Grades 9 & 10), géographie (Grade 9), histoire (Grade 10) and 2 optional credits offered by the school.
