Voluntary, Confidential, Indigenous Student Self-Identification

It is the policy of the District School Board of Niagara to provide programs and put into place measures to support all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students. All First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students have the right to voluntarily self-identify so that they may receive supportive programming and instructional practices that better serve their learning needs. Self-identification helps provide students with culturally relevant programming and unique cultural and academic opportunities. It helps the school system with opportunities to focus our efforts and resources and to increase awareness of the diverse needs of Indigenous families. It provides everyone the opportunity for building relationships to increase student success and well-being.
