Student Senate


Get Involved

  • In May of each school year, information will be shared at school on becoming a member of Student Senate for the following school year.
  • Students can return an Expression of Interest to the principal, who will review all applications received.
  • Two students will be selected to represent their school on the Senate.
  • Students may choose to serve for one year or return for a second year to continue the great work that Student Senate does.

DSBN Student Trustee Election

  • Every April, the Student Senate elects a new DSBN Student Trustee for a two-year term.
  • Information on becoming a candidate for the April Student Trustee election is shared in March each year.
  • Students interested in running for the position of Student Trustee submits an Expression of Interest to their school.
  • Each high school can nominate one student to run for election.
  • The candidates make a presentation to the Student Senate at the April Spring Retreat.
  • After the presentations, each Student Senate team votes for their preferred candidate.
